The "Fire Festival at Southernmost Point of Honshu", a traditional winter event representing Kushimoto-cho, is held at Shionomisaki, the southernmost point of Honshu.
The venue features local product sales and food trucks, as well as diverse cultural programs, including Kushimoto-bushi and Shionomisaki-bushi dances, Turkish dance performances, etc.

From the late afternoon, there will be a ceremony, followed by the simultaneous start of a launch of fire arrows performed by Kushimoto Koza High School's club of Kyudo (Japanese archery), choreographed fireworks, and grass burning. This will create a spectacular sight in which the land of Shionomisaki is engulfed in flames.
The mochi-throwing event popular with attendees is also scheduled. From day to night, the day promises to offer an experience of the culture and power unique to Kushimoto.
