The "Owari Shippo (Cloisonne)" is one of the representative traditional crafts in Aichi Prefecture, with a history of about 190 years in Aichi Prefecture and about 165 years in Shippo-cho area of Ama City. As the name "Seven Treasures" implies, they were so beautiful that they were called "The Flower of the World Exposition" during the Meiji era. In Shippo-cho area, cloisonne ware was produced so actively during the 20's and 30's of the Meiji era that the local government was even given the name "Shippo Village". Unlike ceramics, cloisonne is a rare craft that is based on metal and is made by baking glassy glaze. In particular, "wired cloisonne", which creates the outline of a pattern with a ribbon-shaped metal wire, is a technique that represents Owari Shippo (cloisonne).
