The gentle sweetness of "Wasanbon" in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture
Wasanbon sugar is a type of sugar that has been traditionally produced in eastern Shikoku (Kagawa and Tokushima prefectures) and is made from a special variety of sugarcane called "hosokibi," which grows in a warm climate and natural environment.
This is a rare, high-quality sugar that has a powdery texture that melts gently in your mouth.

One of the most well-known Japanese sweets made with wasanbon sugar is higashi, or dried wasanbon, which is made by solidifying wasanbon sugar in a hand-carved wooden mold.

HIYORI WASANBON, located in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a popular shop that sells cute, original wasanbon sweets that are unlike any other.
All of the wasanbon at this shop is made from hand-carved wooden confectionery molds and handmade wasanbon sugar. It has a gentle sweetness and refined flavor, and melts smoothly in your mouth.

At this shop, you can choose your favorite design from an original wooden mold and make your own original Wasanbon dried confectionery set.
You will be making colorful, flavored Wasanbon.
You can enjoy the finished Wasanbon on the spot, or take it home as a souvenir.

The store also has an eat-in space where you can enjoy cafe menu items such as drinks and desserts made with wasanbon sugar. Across from the store is Ritsurin Garden, a special scenic spot in Kagawa Prefecture, so it's also recommended to stop by while sightseeing.
