The base of Miyagi Prefecture was founded by the warlord "Date Masamune". There are many historic sites that preserve the gorgeous culture of that time. Taste comparison of various kinds of picked strawberries
"JR Fruits Park Sendai ARAHAMA" is the biggest orchard in Tohoku, where various fruits and vegetables can be picked throughout the year.
The most popular strawberry picking will start in December 2024. Visitors can enjoy all-you-can-eat strawberries for 30 minutes! Freshly picked fruits can be purchased at the “Arahama Marche” in the park, and at the café-restaurant “Les Pommes” supervised by the chef of Hotel Metropolitan Sendai, you can taste premium curry and desserts using seasonal fruits, which are only available here.

■The gourmet that can be eaten only here
Zunda mochi -- A traditional taste with edamame
"Zunda mochi" is a local food made of "zunda", mashed edamame with sugar and mochi that is made of mochi rice. It is mainly eaten in South, East and Northern regions with Miyagi Prefecture as center, and it is said that its cooking method was already established about 500 years ago.
The original green color shines the most in summer, the season of edamame. Sold frozen or eaten just made at place in general.

Beef tongue -- elastic chewy, and sweet, which makes the charm
"Beef tongue menu", a local gourmet of Sendai with thick-sliced beef tongue, beef tail soup and barley mixed rice, is a classic menu loved since about 80 years in Sendai.
Beef tongue, the quality of which is carefully checked, is sliced with skilled technique, salted one by one to be aged. Finally it is grilled carefully with charcoal fire to realize a smooth elasticity juice and sweet flavor. Sasakama -- There is also a "workshop" that you can make one by your own hand
"Kamaboko" is a traditional Japanese food which is surimi of white-fleshed fish as main ingredient, added with salt and seasoning to be heated up. In Sendai, it is made in shape of bamboo leaf and grilled, which is a special product, "sasa kamaboko. Kanezaki's sasakamaboko is made without any additives, starch or eggs to keep the flavor of sich and to make an elastic taste. You can eat it just as it is or with wasabi soy sauce.
At "Kanezaki main shop Sasakamakan" you can watch how sasakamaboko is made, and a "workshop experience" in which you can make sasakamaboko by yourself is held at any time .
