 Japanese tea is beloved worldwide and sells out frequently. At the Fukujuen Uji Tea Workshop, located in the renowned tea-producing region of Uji, you can enjoy experiences such as preparing matcha and learning how tea is made. You can also savor desserts and dishes made with Uji tea. See, touch and taste, experience Japanese tea culture with all five senses.
 The workshop is conveniently located just a 30-minute train ride from Kyoto City. It's also close to the Byodoin Temple World Heritage Site, making it perfect for combining with sightseeing.

■ Recommended experience ①・・・"Grinding Matcha with a Stone Mill.
Experience fee: 2,200 yen (tax included) / Duration: Approx. 40 minutes


 Experience the traditional process of grinding matcha by hand with a stone mill. This method of grinding matcha requires care and effort, resulting in a rich aroma and exceptional flavor. Afterwards, enjoy a cup of this matcha alongside Japanese sweets. This experience is held daily, except on holidays, and advance reservations are recommended. We also offer a "Hojicha Making and Scented Pouch Experience," in which you can create your own scented pouch by filling it with tea leaves.

■ Recommended Experience ②・・・"Sencha Manners Workshop" Experience Fee: 3,850 yen (includes sweets)/ Duration: Approx. 1 hour

 After enjoying the taste of tea, why not learn the "Sencha Manners" to enjoy it with proper etiquette? In this workshop, held in an authentic tea room, you will learn basic sencha tea ceremony manners, including how to drink tea and use the utensils. It's a fun, hands-on learning experience, so beginners need not worry. A "Matcha Manners Workshop" is also available. Please check the schedule and reservation method in advance.

 Freshly pounded, homemade mochi is topped with matcha and kinako. Savor it generously coated with Dainagon red beans, grown in Tamba and an elegant Japanese sweet that embodies the essence of Uji. It goes perfectly with tea, making it an ideal treat for a break during your stroll.

■ Recommended souvenir・・・"Uji no Asa Gyokuro" 2,160 yen for 50 g

 The shop offers a wide selection of limited-edition items, including Uji tea, tea utensils, and tea-flavored sweets. Among these items, we highly recommend the exclusive "Uji no Asa Gyokuro" gyokuro tea, which is only available here. Cultivated in the Uji River basin, this tea features a fragrant aroma and a deep, mellow flavor with rich umami. Other available teas include sencha, kabusecha, hojicha, and genmaicha.
