In July 16, 1963, the Meishin Expressway was opened as Japan's first high-speed road.
Also the Otsu Service Area was created in the same year on October 1, as Japan's first service area.

Located overlooking "Lake Biwa" the largest lake in Japan, you can of course dine while looking out over "Lake Biwa",
The baristas who love coffee at "LAKESIDE COFFEE" will provide you with an authentic espresso-cappuccino.

Stop by and sip on some latte art.

Our souvenir shop is stocked up on products from Kobe, Shiga, Osaka, and Kyoto.
The long established Japanese confectionery shops like Tawaraya Yoshitomi and Sasaya Iori, can be found at certain locations along the highway and just happen to have them.
We sell the popular Kyoto souvenir yatsuhashi from "Izutsu Yatsuhashi Honpo", pickled vegetables from"Kyotsukemono Nishiri", and of course "551 Horai".
We look forward to seeing you.
