See! Touch! Create! The Morioka Handiworks Square is made up of three zones: the Morioka Regional Industry Promotion Center, the Handiwork Workshop and the Nambu Magariya House. At fifteen workshops, groups of first-rate craftsmen are everyday constantly creating genuine articles.
Visitors to these workshops can see scenes of handiwork production right before their very eyes.
We feel sure that you will be excited by these products of the superior technique of craftsmen who everyday are spread across the workshops and the painstaking care they give to each and every industrial task. By actually receiving elementary instruction from craftsmen, you too can “experience craftsmanship,” and encounter the joy of craftsmanship and be moved by products that you will be sure to cherish. Also, the “Nambu Magariya House,” a unique characteristic of the Nambu region, where horses are bred, is said to have been built during the late Edo period.
In addition, at the “souvenir gift shop” we have assembled Iwate specialty products such as Nambu ironware, Nambu senbei crackers, three famous Morioka noodle styles, and over 4,000 varieties of local sake.
