■What Kind of Place Is Sanrio Puroland?
Sanrio Puroland is an indoor theme park located in Tama City, Tokyo.
It is well known as a place where visitors can meet iconic Japanese characters such as Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll.
Because the entire park is indoors, you can enjoy your visit without worrying about the weather.
Among Tokyo sightseeing spots, it is especially easy to include in an itinerary, as there is very little walking between locations and all experiences are contained within the facility.
Even if you are not particularly familiar with Sanrio characters, the park’s unique worldview and immersive, almost “otherworldly” atmosphere naturally draw visitors in.
With plenty of photo spots throughout the park,
it is also perfect for travelers who want to capture memorable photos of their time in Japan.
In this article, we introduce how to enjoy Sanrio Puroland as it celebrates its 35th anniversary,
along with recommended attractions, language support, and how to purchase tickets.

■A Paradise of Photo Spots|Lady Kitty House

The first place you’ll want to visit is Lady Kitty House,
one of the most photogenic areas in the park.
This space is themed around “Kawaii × Celebrity,
”allowing visitors to experience Hello Kitty’s story from her birth to the present day

Beyond that, you’ll enter a series of rooms that showcase Lady Kitty’s lifestyle.
Japanese-Style Tea Room Photo Spot

Inspired by a traditional Japanese tea room,
you can sit on tatami mats and take photos together with Lady Kitty.
Dress Room

You can virtually try on Lady Kitty’s dresses.
Bathroom and Bedroom

Simply adorable.
35th Anniversary Photo Spots

Whether you’re visiting with friends or traveling solo,
you’ll find plenty of spots that make you want to take photos in your own style and create lasting memories.
At the end of the experience, you can take a commemorative photo with Lady Kitty herself.
Being able to take photos at such a close distance makes this an unforgettable experience.

Staff members can take photos using your smartphone,
but if you have time, we also recommend choosing the professionally taken studio photo,
which includes digital data and a framed print (¥1,600 per photo, tax included).
Having a tangible keepsake makes the experience even more meaningful when you look back on it after returning home.
■Immerse Yourself in the World|Sanrio Character Boat Ride

This is a ride-type attraction where you board a boat and travel through the world of Sanrio characters.
Even if you don’t know much about the characters, the ride is easy to enjoy and naturally draws you into the Sanrio universe.
Many characters appear one after another, making it especially popular with first-time visitors.

There is a photo opportunity toward the latter half of the ride.
You can purchase the photo afterward (¥1,200 per photo, tax included), and there are multiple frame designs to choose from.
By the way, even though the boat seats two people, characters can be digitally added to empty seats—another fun touch!
■Emotion Beyond Language|Byonwā ~beyond words~
A new-style entertainment show that is completely non-verbal (no spoken dialogue).
Using visuals, sound, and lighting, the show is designed so that even those who do not understand Japanese can easily follow and enjoy it.
Photography is generally not allowed,
which helps you fully immerse yourself in the world of the performance.

Another show, “KAWAII KABUKI ~ Hello Kitty Troupe’s Momotaro ~,”
is themed around kabuki, a traditional Japanese performing art.
Presented in a uniquely Sanrio style,
it allows visitors to experience Japanese culture through entertainment.
■Subtitles & Interactive Fun|Cinnamoroll’s Little Adventure

This show includes subtitle support,
making it easy to follow the story as it unfolds.
There is also a shooting game element during the performance,
which adds excitement as guests compete for high scores.
Even without understanding Japanese, the content is easy to enjoy,
making it especially recommended for international visitors.

■A Must-See Finale|The Quest of Wonders Parade

The latest parade, The Quest of Wonders Parade,
features lighting effects synchronized with the venue.
Popular characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Kuromi appear in this vibrant and spectacular parade.
Using the 35th Anniversary Wonder Ribbon Light (¥3,850, tax included)
allows the light to change colors in sync with the parade, enhancing the sense of unity throughout the venue.

Even without the light,
you can fully enjoy the parade by joining in the dancing.
■Fun to Look At, Fun to Eat|Character Food Court
There are several dining areas inside the park.
At the Character Food Court, you’ll find many visually delightful dishes inspired by Sanrio characters.
Some menu items use plant-based ingredients.
While not all dietary restrictions are fully accommodated,
it’s nice to have options that suit different food preferences and lifestyles.

Pochacco’s Chunky Vegetable Spicy Curry (¥1,600, tax included) – plant-based
