''Shimbashi Tamakiya'' is a long-established tsukudani shop that has been around since 1782. Here, you can practice making rice balls, and the workshop "Onigiri Workshop in TAMAKIYA" in English (French) is held on every weekday.Tsukudani is a savory side dish made by tastily simmering small fish, shellfish, seaweed, etc. in soy sauce, sugar, mirin, etc.! Rice balls with tsukudani have a nostalgic flavor for Japanese. Immerse yourself in the warm Japanese traditions and make an unforgettable memory when seeing the sights of Tokyo.

Practice ① Explanation of how to make rice balls.

A staff member will explain details to you about how to make rice balls and about traditional culture in English (or in French by a French speaking staff member).

Shimbashi Tamakiya offers three types of tsukudani (sesame kelp, clams, ginger tuna) and three types of furikake condiments.

Practice ② Make your own original rice balls (3 pieces / approximately 300g in total).

You will make rice balls, using Tamakiya's tsukudani and furikake condiments.

Arrange the second and third rice balls freely. Freely decide the shape of the rice balls, such as a triangular shape or round shape, and you can decorate, etc. them with mayonnaise. You will have a lot of fun if you prepare them with your friends, etc.

You can eat them at the shop or take them away (for hygienic reasons, you cannot take them away during the summer only).

Practice ③: Wear a happi coat and a twisted headband, then take a commemorative photo together with your rice ball master certificate.

Wearing a happi coat and a twisted headband that symbolize Japanese culture and customs, you will be photographed together with your rice ball master certificate.

Practice ④: Take away a souvenir box

You will also get a souvenir in the end. Shimbashi Tamakiya's tsukudani, furikake condiments, etc. will be given as a present.

*Including packed rice, tsukudani, furikake condiments, etc. (The photo shows an example.)

This workshop will be held in English (or French) on every weekday. Please make a reservation early, as it is limited to a maximum of three people per day.

If you additionally order sake, you can savor the tsukudani left over from the rice ball making as a side dish for the sake, thereby savoring it fully without rendering it uneaten.

Price: 7,000 yen per person including the tax (with a souvenir box)
