When thinking of wine, perhaps many people tend to imagine European countries along the Mediterranean coast or South American countries. But actually, drinking wine is also remarkably popular in Japan and there are even large-scale wineries located in numerous regions around the country. This time we will introduce a selection of wineries from different regions of Japan that produce wines well suited to Japanese food. Japanese wine made with domestically-grown grapes is enticing, too!

First, we would like to provide some information from wineries in Tokyo.

Fukagawa Winery Tokyo(深川ワイナリー東京)

Fukagawa Winery has a tasting room with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy freshly-made wine while watching the production process. There is even a 10-seat restaurant in the back available by reservation only! This winery in Tokyo is a place where you can feel closer to the wine producers. It's said that what sets apart Kosuke Ueno, who is responsible for production here, is that he produces wine to enhance the delicious flavors of seasonal ingredients. Sushi kaiseki dining is offered at the restaurant on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Italian course meals are offered from Wednesday to Sunday. All the wine is made dry to suit the dishes. The Delaware wine here goes well with sushi, so sushi restaurants want to do business with the winery, too. And whether red or white, soba noodle restaurants use these wines as well!

Hakodate Wine (Hokkaido)【はこだてわいん(北海道)】

Next, we will introduce Hokkaido wineries. Hakodate Wine was established in 1973 as Komagatake Winery. Devoted to Hokkaido-produced ingredients, it offers wines that are both casual and sophisticated. It even has wines stored in the world's deepest wine cellar, Seikan Tunnel Wine Cellar! You can enjoy trying over five types of wine for free as well as tasting two flavors of red or white wine ice cream made with actual wine, a special limited product unique to the winery! For wine that goes well with Japanese food, we recommend Hokkaido 100 Bacchus! Using 100% Hokkaido Bacchus for a flavor reminiscent of Muscat grapes, it is known for its characteristic tart and fruity taste.
