Grandmother's fashion street is full of retro - Sugamo Jizou Dori Shopping Street

Campaign Introduction
It is not just about famous tourist spots of Japan. For travelers thinking of "wanting to make a trip which makes contact with ordinary Japanese life", here is a campaign introducing the charm of Japanese localities, “Find Japan’s Treasures”.

Lined with individual stores along the old Nakasendo road, Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street is a shopping street where you can immerse yourself in retro Japanese culture and find wonderful things that you would normally have forgotten about. Why not find your favorite item and bring it back as a souvenir with the blessings of Jizo?

At Sugamo Jizou Dori, a cityscape was made as the first rest area from Nihombashi, the starting point of Nakasendo, during the Edo Period.

Protected by two Jizo statues, “Edo Roku Jizoson” at Maseiji Temple and “Togenuki Jizoson” at Kowanji Temple, and Sugamo Koshinzuka, the 800-meter-long shopping street is crowded with many people who enjoy visiting and shopping.
