Los Angeles egg and sandwich speciality store eggslut’s Japanese counterpart is bringing unagi eel to the menu, releasing a new Unatama Egg Sandwich (a mashup of “unagi” and “tamago”, which is Japanese for “egg”) using a generous portion of eel, a traditional Japanese food favorite of the summer season, and the free-running eggs that eggslut is known for.

This gourmet lineup of unagi egg sandwiches is a collaboration with Japanese spice company Yawatayagoro, combining highly regarded shichimi spices with filling ingredients for a “stamina” inspired summer menu.

Take a look at this amazing visual!

The Unatama egg sandwich serves up a generous whole portion of grilled, soft eel covered in sweet and smoky eel sauce, matched with Gouda cheese and the scrambled eggs cooked with eggslut’s special fermented butter.

There will be three different versions of the sandwich available:

Tokujyo: Unatama Egg sandwich (whole eel)

Price: 3,058 yen. (With cold Shijimi clam soup, Mitsuba parsley, Nara pickles mixed with mayonnaise, chopped nori seaweed, and three types of Yawatayagoro’s spices)
