Bandai's Tabe-Masu wagashi series

If you're looking for something sweet at your local convenience store when you visit Japan, Bandai's "Tabe-Masu" traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi) series are a good bet. Tabe-masu 食べマス is a play on words, since tabemasu is the verb "to eat" but masu マス is also short for masukotto マスコット meaning "mascot character."

They've previously made these wagashi-in-a box based on Snoopy, Rilakkuma and the Toy Story aliens, to name a few.

Now they've come out with a version which is sure to please fans of the popular manga and anime series One Piece.

Tabe-Masu One Piece Chopper

It's that lovable reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece!

He's made with nerikiri dough, formed by white bean paste and mochi. Since it can be easily coloured, moulded and carved into various shapes, nerikiri dough is often used to create aesthetically pleasing confections.

Standard version

In this "Standard" version before the Timeskip, Chopper is wearing his pink hat. This sweet has a sakura flavor.

"Sparkling eyes" version

The other version available is Chopper two years later, after the Timeskip, wearing his blue hat and with sparkling eyes. The flavor is chocolate.
