Did you know that the latest trend is to learn about Japanese culture while sightseeing?
There are facilities in every region of Japan where you can enjoy learning by experiencing history, science, and gastronomy, etc. Here, we introduce the perfect spots for you to deepen your knowledge of Japan!
Edo-Tokyo Museum, Tokyo(東京都江戸東京博物館)
Let's start in Tokyo's downtown, Ryougoku area. A vast 9000m² space displays history from the Edo period through to present-day modern Tokyo. Scale models recreate the street scenes of each era, delicately crafted right down to the facial expressions and kimonos of the people, and details of buildings, so take your time to take it all in!
The Osaka Museum of Housing and Living(大阪くらしの今昔館)
On the corner of Tenjinbashi shopping street in Osaka, known as Japan's longest shopping street, you can learn about the evolution of the city and way of life of Osaka. We recommend wearing a kimono while walking around the "Naniwa Machiya no Saijiki" exhibit on the 9th floor - a life-size reproduction of Osaka during the Edo period - so you can really get into the spirit of being in the Edo period!
