Find an Animal! Popular Meet-up Places in Tokyo for Shopping!

However, each station has a landmark animal close to popular shopping malls and if you know where it is, it will be much easier!!

For Shibuya, there is a famous dog called “Hachi.”

[How to get there] Go to Hachiko Exit and “Hachi” is right in front of the famous green train.

Right next to “Hachi”, there’s the world-famous gigantic scramble crossing shown above with SHIBUYA 109 and the Tokyu Department Store is directly connected to the exit.

Next meet up place is “いけふくろう” @ Ikebukuro.

It sounds like a pun, but Ikefukuro was built with some interesting historical reasons. In this area, there were couples of ponds and many owls (fukurou) living in the forest near from there.

[How to get there] Go to North Exit and walk to the East. Right before the stairs to East Exit, there you see the “いけふくろう”!

Enjoy shopping at Seibu Department Store close to the “いけふくろう(Ikefukurou).”

This is the Lion statue in Ginza, right in front of the front door of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Department store.

The statue was built because the manager at that time loved lions and he wished the Mitsukoshi department store to be the king like lions are in the animal world.

If you go across the street from the lion statue, there is Wako Department store with a long history.

[How to get there] For Ginza line, Hibiya line, and Marunouchi line, go to Exit 7 and is directly connected. Exit 8 if you go up to the ground.

And Shinjuku… was there an animal representing Shinjuku??

Look up the sky and there you see a giant head of GODZILLA! He looks very fierce and glaring at you!!

[How to get there] Go to East Exit and walk to Kabuki-cho for about 5 minutes.

Godzilla is on top of a building, looking down the city. Through 3^rd to 6^th floor, they are cinema zone “TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku”. And 8^th to 30^th floors are hotel zone “Hotel Gracery Shinjuku.”
