Shinjuku, with the world’s largest terminal station, is always full of new excitement and dynamism. Like its fun nightlife, an afternoon walk around the district is also a special experience.
Shinjuku Station is a hub used by many railway and subway lines, and ranks top in the world with a passenger volume of 3.4 million people per day. With the opening of the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal at the south exit off the station last year, the area has become even more busy and vibrant, welcoming larger crowds that include many tourists. This time, we will take a walk starting from the lively south exit area of the station, and follow a route heading toward the east exit as well as a route heading toward the west exit.

Coinciding with the opening of the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal was the launch of the new commercial facility NEWoMaN, developed by LUMINE. Shinjuku Takashimaya adjoins the back of the building. If you do not have much time, it is sufficiently enjoyable just to visit these two facilities.

Crossing Koshu Kaido from the first floor of NEWoMaN, you will find the newlybuilt Shinjuku Tourist Information office on the left. The three cherry blossom trees on the small plaza in front of this office offer a popular photo spot for tourists.
