At the Tokyo Chuo City Tourist Information Center, we offer free, no-reservation Japanese cultural experiences, so that visitors to Japan can enjoy them in an accessible way!
Most popular ✨ Kimono dressing experience
We offer a wide selection of kimonos to suit every season, with yukata in the summer and kimonos in the winter.
The kimono is worn over your regular clothes, so there's no need to change. With no need to change, it's a quick and easy experience!
Also very popular with visitors with packed itineraries who don't have much time, or who realize they have a bit of free time before their next stop!
We also offer yukata for children, so young kids can also join in on the experience.
Have fun taking as many photos as you'd like at the photo spots inside the center!
Date/Time | Weekdays only / 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
Time required | Approx. 15-40 minutes
*Please note that this experience is for inside the center only. Going outside while wearing the kimono is not permitted.
Perfect as a souvenir as well ✨ Calligraphy experience
In Japanese, three writing systems—hiragana, katakana, and kanji—are used together.
In this experience, you'll be able to use a traditional calligraphy brush to write your name or a word you like in Japanese.
If you'd like to try writing your name in kanji, our concierge staff will choose some wonderful characters for your name and create a sample for you to follow.
Whether as a keepsake for your trip to Japan, or as a gift for family—why not give calligraphy a try?
Date/Time | Every day / 9:00 A.M. - 8:30 P.M.
Time required | Approx. 10-15 minutes
A bit of a challenge ✨ Origami experience
Origami, a traditional Japanese pastime enjoyed since ancient times, lets you create animals, characters, shuriken, and more from a single square sheet of paper.
You can try folding the origami by following the origami books available at the center, or make a classic paper crane together with our concierge staff!
Date/Time | Every day / 9:00 A.M. - 8:30 P.M.
Time required | Approx. 5-15 minutes
