A popular souvenir in the Asakusa area of Tokyo is Ningyo-yaki which is a small snack cake that is made by cooking flour, eggs, and sugar in an iron mold. The cakes are typically filled with red bean paste (anko), but can also be filled with chocolate or custard.
The cakes are shaped to look like the seven gods of Japan, shichifukujin, or the lantern at the front gate of Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Kaminarimon. If you are going to Sensoji Temple, you'll definitely want to pick up some Ningyo-yaki while you're there.
