There are lots of zoos and aquariums in Japan, but there are also some animal centers where you can both see and touch some remarkable creatures.
Why not enjoy a visit to one of these special facilities, and spend some time enjoying the company of their unique animals?
◆iZoo
Situated 2.5 hours by limited express train from Tokyo, this was Japan's first sensory experience zoo. This is the only facility in Japan where many rare reptiles, such as Fiji banded iguanas, are kept. You can touch large snakes and crocodiles, or take a commemorative photo with giant tortoises, so if you like animals, you'll go crazy for this place!
◆Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia(よこはま動物園ズーラシア)
At Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia, you can see rare and unusual monkeys, such as the "world's most beautiful monkey"―the Red-shanked douc; the Proboscis monkey whose long nose so resembles that of a Japanese mythical creature, the Tengu, that it is called "Tengu-monkey" in Japanese; and the distinctive François' langur (leaf monkey).
If you are in the Tokyo area, come and see for yourself!
