Umaibou is a snack brand made by Yaokin Co., Ltd. in 1979.

It is a stick-shaped snack that has been loved by so many Japanese people, from adults to children, for a long time.

Initially, there was only one flavor, "sauce flavor", but on the following year, the number increased to six.

And now, they have 19 flavors of Umaibou.

With so many flavors to choose from, no wonder it is so popular.

It also features a hole in the center.

The hole would make it more crispy, more resistant to cracks.

And since the beginning up until today, they have been selling Yaokin for 10 yen without changing the price.

The reason is because they want to keep the smile of children with 10 yen.

By the way, a dozen years ago when I was in charge of promotion at a department store, we held an event called "Umaibou Grabbing Tournament", which ended up being a success, and we decided to hold it many times.

I really appreciate all your help at that time. (^^)

I actually had the chance to eat the top 3 among the most popular Umaibou ranking.

This time I am going to tell you my own impression and next time I will introduce you some arrangement recipes.

【1st rank : Corn potage flavor】

This is the first flavor that most people would think of when they hear Umaibou.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the corn potage flavor is indeed a product that best represents Umaibo.

The taste is not so strong, but I think people who love corn potage soup will definitely recommend this taste.

Since it has a very mild flavor, everyone can enjoy it anytime and it is even a product suitable to buy in bulk or stock.

This is a snack that is loved mainly by boys, but I also heard that many girls like this taste.

【2nd rank : Mentai flavor】

This spicy taste provides unique ''color'' to various flavors of Umaibo, which are all popular among children.

You would imagine that it's spicy due to its red color, as compared to corn potage flavor, but when you put this one into your mouth, you won't feel the 'spiciness' of it.

Spiciness that is pleasant to your taste buds will gradually come, and to be honest the spicy flavor is delicious.

No wonder that this taste ranks the second on the ranking, as 'mild spiciness' continues to boom in Japan.

It is a taste that even person with a sweet tooth who can't take spicy food can enjoy!

There are many people who put it as toppings over the rice.

Let's try spicy Umaibo with rice next time!(^^)

【3rd rank : Takoyaki flavor】

Takoyaki is one of 'casual foods' that represents Japan.

Takoyaki x Umaibou is absolutely a product not to be missed.

I am impressed with the manufacturing process, and all they did in order to reproduce the taste and also appearance of real Takoyaki balls.

This is the only flavor, that was first dipped with sauce and baked, powdered and baked again.

It is a product with a high cost performance for only 10 yen.

You can try and taste it by yourself.

Yes, it tastes like Takoyaki.

In a sense, it has a distinctly Japanese flavor to it, and probably will be very popular especially in Kansai, where the Takoyaki culture has flourished.

All these 3 flavors I had were tasty.

How many people would have been helped when they are feeling a little bit hungry if they kept some at home.

I'm just feeling grateful for Umaibou, which helps brighten the day for us when we feel peckish.
