New Beginnings for Nihombashi at CITAN

Since opening in March this year CITAN has brought a new energy to the east of the Nihombashi area, offering a new perspective on what it means to be a focal point for the community evading easy classification as it does as a hostel, coffee stand, bar, and restaurant. On any given day you will find a bustle of activity extending from the terrace seating area and baristas hard at work at the BERTH COFFEE hand-dripped specialist coffee stand, through to the basement lounge which is as much as favourite of the local Nihombashi creative class as it is the visitors from around the globe who have flocked there, mostly on word of mouth.

The energy continues down to the basement area which functions as a cafe eat-in space by day before transforming into a lively bar and restaurant at night, boasting a particular diverse menu of beers, wines, whiskies and spirits. It is an open-plan setting curated with care to create a grown-up borderless environment, which shines a light on the unique creative force that continues to make Nihombashi its home since the advent of Edo as the literal centre of the capital. Now with a global audience in mind, what was once the offices of a shirt company has been reborn as the starting point for the world's, and maybe your, Tokyo story.
