Today, it is my pleasure to introduce a place where is called little Edo-Kawagoe, located in Saitama, is the representative city of period of Edo (17 century). It takes 40 minutes to get there by train from Shinjuku; there is no doubt that it is a good choice for who are interested in ancient Japan. Ichibangai and kashiya-yocho are famous shopping street which you should not miss.

Wait, is it 21 century?

Just imagine, there are people who are wearing kimono and walk in the street, edo style building is just in hand.

Right, the distance between dream and reality is kimono. One of the best ways to experience ancient street is wear traditional clothes, and, there are shops that provided rental service. In order to know more about rental shop, I walked into a rental store, and made an interview with nice shop manager. "Most guests are Asian”, she said,” And it only take about 5 minutes for putting on a kimono." Only 5?I thought it would take 30 minutes and what makes me surprised is all exquisite accessories are handmade by stuff. Well, I know kimono here is kawaii (it become a common word), but do not waste too much time on selecting, because you will be dazzled more in Ichibangai. Wear your kimono, follow me!

If you are same as me, once see matcha, can't help buying then the street is kind of” dangerous” to you. And then when I saw yakiimo, ok, I got pay. Next is senbei (rice cracker), cannot be more delicious! As a result, after hanging out Ichibangai, my wallet has almost no money.

Besides food, I was immediately struck by manager's sense, when I passed by a pottery shop. They provide experience course and it means everyone can make your own plate or cup. Another eye-catching shop I want to recommend there is a handmade chopstick shop and they provide free engraved name service.

Kawagoe is also one of the popular destinations for excursion of for school, and　by coincidence, the day I went to kashiya-yokocho, there was an event of one middle school. By the way, it is recommended for travelers who are parents to look after their children by themselves. Because children here were attracted by different kinds of snacks and talked with each other. So was I. There is a candy artisan who is always surrounded by a group of people who can make balloon candy, and praised with children. There is a place you can forget your age and laugh like a child. That is the purpose of travel, right?
