Today, we will be introducing a convenient service for those touring Japan.
It is the service known as “Seven Bank.”
In Japan, there are limited ATMs accepting bank cards and credit cards issued outside Japan. Seven Bank ATMs allow Japanese yen to be withdrawn using cards issued overseas, making them very convenient for travelers from outside Japan. These ATMs can be found in Japan’s airports, and are actively being installed in places frequented by overseas travelers, such as train stations and sightseeing spots. They can also be found in 7-Eleven convenience stores.
The ATM’s display, receipt, and audio guide comes in many languages. In December 2015, seven new languages were added to the existing five, bringing the number of languages to 12.
Seven Bank ATMs allow cards issued overseas to be used almost 24 hours a day. Transactions are temporarily suspended at certain periods for maintenance purposes.
Each ATM also has a phone which allows inquiries by phone (in English, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).
Please note some stores may not be installed with an ATM.
As there is Seven Bank in Japan, you do not need to worry about having to bring Japanese yen with you when you visit!
