Thanks to our sponsors like Yomiuri Shinbun, Nippon TV, the Washington National Gallery, and the American embassy, the MCS Marunouchi Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum proudly presents the Washington National Gallery, a collection of America's most famous impressionists. The exhibition is open from Feb. 7th 2015 to May 24th 2015 except for Mondays. However the gallery will be open on April 6th and May 18th and holidays. Most of the collections are donated from various private individuals, with a surprisingly large number of pieces. This exhibition features collections from the popular French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism movements. Since the NGA is under going renovation, we would like to take this opportunity to exhibit 38 paintings that have never set foot on Japanese soil for a total of 68 works of art. Artists like Renoir, Manet, Monet, Degas, Cezanne, Van Gogh, and other brilliant artists of the Impressionist period will have their worked featured in the exhibit. Opened in spring of 2010 Tokyo Marunouchi is a 5 minute walk from JR Tokyo Station. From the late half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, modernism took over the art scene and three times a year Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum holds a modernism art exhibition. The brick building was built in 1894 by Mitsubishi and was reconstructed in 2009. The permanent collections include works of art that are as old as the building itself from artists like Henri de Toulouse, Odilon Redon, and Félix Edouard Vallotton. Even the Museum Cafe, Cafe 1894 and Store 1894 have a historic feel to it with Akiya Takahashi at the helm of the museum.
